Real Housewives of Potomac alum Mia Thornton is looking toward the future, instead of focusing on past challenges.

Thornton, 41, uploaded a series of inspirational posts this week to Instagram, as she celebrated her birthday and her freedom, following an arrest for alleged theft.

“Refined. Unmoved. Unshakeable. I don’t break — I become better. Happy Birthday to me,” Thornton wrote in a Nov. 24 post.

“In the midst of unexpected moments, I’m remembering who I am: a mother, a creator, a woman evolving in real time. I’m choosing peace, accountability, and personal growth. Thank you to those who continue to support my journey,” she added.

The post included a black and white glamour photo of the reality star and entrepreneur, who was wearing a turtle neck, fur coat, and pearl necklace while sitting on a piano keyboard.

The next day, she followed up with a second glamour shot and included a caption describing herself as “delicate, disciplined, divinely protected” as she marked her birthday.

“I’m embracing this next chapter with softness and strength. Life will test you, but grace and self-awareness always win. Thank you to everyone who’s shown love as I continue to grow, learn, and elevate,” the Nov. 25 post read.

Thornton was taken into custody at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport on Nov. 19, after U.S. customs officers learned there was a warrant out for her arrest.

Customs notified the Atlanta Police Department, which has a branch office at the airport.

“Officers identified the individual as Ms. Mia Fields-Thornton, who had an active City of Atlanta warrant related to a larceny involving an alleged furniture theft,” the Atlanta Police Department said in a news release.

According to the police report posted on the department’s website, the Bravo star was accused of stealing furniture and electronics valued at more than $11,000 from a condominium she was renting.

The report said Thornton and a male roommate “suddenly moved out of the unit in the middle of the night” on Oct. 28, and allegedly took furniture, a TV, radio, and DVD player.

According to Fulton County Jail records, Thornton was charged with “theft by taking.”

In police body camera footage, she began to cry when an officer placed her in handcuffs. The officer told her to “relax.”

Thornton was a member of the cast of The Real Housewives of Potomac from seasons 6 to 9.

She announced on social media that she was leaving the show in April 2025, and relocating to Atlanta.

“The past four seasons have been an unforgettable journey, one filled with growth, lessons, and so many incredible memories. I want to thank Truly Original, Bravo, NBCUniversal, and Andy Cohen for believing in me and giving me the space to share my story,” she shared on April 21.

According to her bio on the RHOP website, she is a graduate of Southeastern Institute, with a certification in neuromuscular massage therapy. She has an ownership stake in Massage Envy Spas and also has business ties to The Joint Chiropractic clinics.
