“Romantic Homicide” singer D4vd has returned to the charts, with interest in his music surging, as Los Angeles police investigate the circumstances surrounding a teenage girl’s body found in his impounded car.

Chart Data released new figures showing D4vd’s 2022 single “Romantic Homicide,” was streamed more than 12.1 million times Sunday, Sept. 21, giving the singer-songwriter his biggest streaming day ever on Spotify.

The song is about taking a woman’s life and includes the lyrics: “In the back of my mind, I killed you, And I didn’t even regret it, I can’t believe I said it, But it’s true, I hate you.”

The track was included on his 2022 EP, Petals to Thorns. The album is listed as a “re-entry” and currently sits at No. 184 on the Billboard 200 chart.

On Sept. 8, the decomposed remains of Celeste Rivas, 14, were located in the trunk of a Tesla registered to D4vd, 20, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.

Family, friends and concerned residents held a vigil on Sunday night honoring Rivas in her hometown of Lake Elsinore, California, about 60 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

CBS Los Angeles reported a large crowd lit candles and shared stories about the teen.

“This little girl that lost her life so tragically. She did do an afternoon program with my daughter and my granddaughter, so we just here you know, with the community, to support family and just be here,” local resident Veronica Ortiz told the TV station.

A “Missing Person” flyer released by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office over a year ago, said the teen was last seen in the area on April 5, 2024.

LAPD officers located her body at a Hollywood tow yard after employees reported a strong odor coming from an impounded 2023 Tesla.

Officers opened the front trunk, and found a bag inside containing human remains. The vehicle had Texas plates and was registered to D4vd.

Rivas’ decomposed remains were located one day after what would have been her 15th birthday — suggesting she died when she was 14.

It took the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner several days to identify Rivas. The coroner’s office said she had a tattoo on her right index finger that read “Shhh…”

Multiple outlets have since published pictures showing D4vd had the same tattoo on his right index finger.

The LAPD earlier said he was cooperating with their investigation. But so far, he has not commented publicly on the case or the nature of his relationship with Rivas.

On Thursday Sept. 18, detectives served a search warrant at the Hollywood Hills home where he’s been staying. ABC7 Los Angeles aired footage of plain clothes detectives carrying out a computer and bags of evidence.

That same day, the Grammy Museum removed the singer’s scheduled Sept. 24 concert from its website. A source with ties to the museum confirmed to Urban Hollywood 411 that the concert had been canceled.

D4vd was born in Queens, New York in 2005, according to his Apple Music page. After moving to Texas, the streamer began creating music for his gaming videos and became a viral TikTok star.

His music is described as a combination of “bedroom pop, R&B and alternative rock.”
