Laurence Fishburne is joining the world of The Witcher.
This weekend Netflix announced the premiere date for Season 4 of the fantasy drama about monster-hunter Geralt of Rivia, and released photos from the eight-episode season.
Fishburne joins the cast of the series, which is adapted from the CD Projekt Red video game series and Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels of the same name.
The Oscar-nominated actor plays Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy, better known to fans as “Regis,” the iconic barber, surgeon, and 400-year-old vampire in the novels.

One image shows Fishburne sitting on a horse in his Regis costume, with a partially grey wig and sideburns.
In another photos, he is with fellow newcomer Liam Hemsworth, who leads the cast as white-haired witcher Geralt in Seasons 4 and 5.
Hemsworth follows Henry Cavill, who played Geralt in the first three seasons. The Man of Steel and Black Adam star Cavill announced his exit in an October 2022 Instagram post, and said Hemsworth would take over the witcher role.
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill wrote. “In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.”

Season 3 of the series concluded in July 2023. Then in April 2024, Netflix announced production started on season 4 and the story would conclude with season 5.
In the new season, “Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri find themselves separated by a raging war and countless enemies. As their paths diverge, and their goals sharpen, they stumble on unexpected allies eager to join their journeys,” Netflix said in a press release Saturday.
The streamer also released the official season 4 trailer during Saturday’s Canelo vs. Crawford fight on Saturday, Sept. 13.
Creator, showrunner and executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich teased what to expect in an interview with Netflix blog Tudum.
“One of the things we always say is that it wouldn’t be The Witcher if everything ended happily,” Hissrich said. “This is the beginning of a two-season journey for our family to finally reunite and be together — hopefully forever.”
According to Hissrich, the final two seasons will step up the drama and action.
“We also have this amazing opportunity, halfway through a series, to relaunch it — to say, ‘Things are different, we’re coming out of the gate with a bang, and it’s bigger and better than ever.’ ”
Season 4 of The Witcher debuts Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025.
