Sophia “Sogucci” Williams has announced she won’t return for season 6 of OWN reality series Belle Collective.
Sogucci broke the news to fans in a Dec. 31 post on the X platform, saying she and husband JJ Williams were “grateful for the opportunity,” but she had decided to exit the series.
Her announcement came after fellow Belle Collective star Aikisha Holly-Colon and husband Willie Colon shockingly quit the show during a Dec. 23 live stream with series executive producer Carlos King.
Sogucci used her social media post to apologize for her actions during the most recent season of the series and the reunion, and said she takes “full accountability” for her actions.
“Watching the reunion episode was very hard to sit through especially now knowing where my family currently stands,” she shared.
The certified personal trainer and fitness entrepreneur said she apologized privately to her husband’s ex-wife, Selena Johnson, who officially joined the show as a belle in season 5.
“I was disappointed in my actions because even though I had my reasons it should have never been handled or addressed on this platform from the beginning. I take full accountability for allowing the entertainment of this show to ruin the integrity of my family. I have apologized publicly and privately to Selena for my part in this entire production,” she shared.
“I do know that in order for my family to completely heal, someone will have to exit stage left and I have decided that it will be me,” she added. “I am pleased to say that I received my renewal letter for a new season, but The Williams will not be returning to #BelleCollective.”
Urban Belle reports Sogucci was not happy when Selena was invited to join the show. During an appearance on Carlos King’s YouTube channel, Sogucci said bringing Selena on board the series made her feel unprotected.
“You know Carlos, I really felt disrespected,” she said. “Just to be honest with you, we gon’ keep it 100. I just feel like I was on a platform where I thought I was protected. But I didn’t feel it, I didn’t feel it from your crew. I didn’t feel protected.”
Belle Collective is one of OWN’s most popular shows and has been on the air since 2021. The reality show follows several Black women entrepreneurs in Jackson, as they navigate work, family and personal challenges.
The two-part season 5 was previously recorded. But began airing on television Dec. 27. The second part airs Friday, Jan. 3.
