Paradise, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, and Sean Combs: The Reckoning were recognized this weekend at the eighth annual AAFCA TV Honors.
The African American Film Critics Association handed out the awards during a star-studded brunch on Saturday, Aug. 8, at City Club Los Angeles in downtown L.A.
The winners, who were previously announced on July 1, were honored for achievements across broadcast TV, cable, streaming and podcasting.
Hulu’s Paradise was named Best Drama. While Sterling K. Brown, who leads the cast of the apocalyptic political thriller, won the award for Best Actor.
Apple TV’s Shrinking picked up the award for Best Comedy, and ABC’s Abbott Elementary earned two awards — Best Ensemble and Best Writing.
Other winners for acting included Erika Alexander, who was named Best Supporting Actress for NBC’s The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. Lamorne Morris picked up the Best Supporting Actor award for Prime Video’s Spider-Noir.
Netflix’s Sean Combs: The Reckoning, was named Best Documentary. The four-hour docuseries from executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and director Alex Stapleton chronicled the Bad Boy Records founder’s life and alleged crimes following his July 2025 conviction for Mann Act violations.

Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette was named Best Limited Series, and Crystle Roberson Dorsey won the award for Best Directing in a Drama for her work on the FX/Hulu production.
This year’s ceremony introduced two new competitive categories. OWN’s Love & Marriage: Huntsville became the inaugural winner for Best Reality Series, while All the Smoke with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson won Best Podcast.
“This year’s winners represent the incredible depth and creative ambition driving our industry forward,” AAFCA President and Co-Founder Gil Robertson said in a statement.
AAFCA also honored Tracy Morgan with the Flip Wilson Award and Starz executive Kathryn Busby with the TV Vanguard Award. The ‘Burbs creator Celeste Hughey received the Impact Award, television producer Lamar Chase was presented with the Horizon Award. A Different World 2026 co-creator Felicia Pride received the Salute to Excellence Award.
