The film stars Halle Bailey, Taraji P. Henson, H.E.R., Danielle Brooks, and Fantasia Barrino.
“It made me sad that we are at this state in our country,” Winfrey said in a new interview.
People affected by the fire can receive $1,200 each month to help them get back on their feet.
Oprah has since pledged to make a “major donation” toward the relief effots.
“I actually went to Walmart and Costco and got pillows, shampoo, diapers,” Winfrey says.
Other A-list donors include Jennifer Lopez, Meryl Streep, George Clooney, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Oprah serves as executive producer of the upcoming movie musical.

Winfrey introduced the trailer at CinemaCon as “not your mama’s ‘Color Purple.’”
