Bishop T.D. Jakes is recovering after he appeared to suffer a seizure during his Sunday sermon at The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas.

Jakes, 67, was sitting on a stool and dabbing sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief, when he became ill.

As he concluded his hour-long sermon, he slurred his words, began shaking, and dropped his microphone.

Church elders rushed to the stage to assist the megachurch pastor. They surrounded him, grabbed his arms, and prevented him from falling to the floor.

The Potter’s House issued a statement on Sunday afternoon, saying Jakes is currently in stable condition.

“During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour long message,” the statement read.

“Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community,” the statement continued.

The Potter’s House is a 30,000-member nondenominational church, its website says.

Jakes founded the church in Dallas in 1996. It now has additional sites in Frisco, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; and Denver, Colorado.

Jakes also runs TDJ Enterprises, which publishes his books and produces faith-based films, including the 2004 feature, Woman Thou Art Loosed, and Lifetime’s Seven Deadly Sins franchise. He additionally hosts a religious program on The Word Network.

    1. the same empathy, and kindness you offer others will come back to you, you can disagree with the Pastor, but no need to kick someone who has suffered a medical emerency!

  1. Got to call it as it is. TD Jakes needs to step down as a pastor forever. It is one thing for one to be caught in adultery. With repentance, counceling and a sabbatical…restoration is possible
But what TD Jakes with possible collusion or uncaring by his wife…to go on to rob church donations to visit sex parties and pay gay prostitutes for years to sex him up…all the while preaching from his pulpit and excusing his sin::: well that just isnt a fall, that is a lifestyle of debauchery and adultery and robbing God and defrauding his congregation. I dont think there os forgiveness for Jakes.

    1. He is blinded and in sin so it appears from a reasonably objective view. He said, “even if I did God would forgive it.” Blah blah blah. And yet yes – if He obeys God. Yet Yeshua established His church and has given Baptism. TD is in my prayers. But I am afraid that he in fact is a closet Sodomite and he is being Judged by the Lord. I am a Gentile and I can see that. God will not be robbed of His glory. Very difficult to minister without faith in the Eucharist. And no man should be at drug and sex parties as a married pastor. These guys convince themselves of non-sense and force God to do something like this. Frozen in time. Holding another envelope using Jesus name to keep the “show” going. Only God knows his soul. Faith and strength are my prayer.
