Fans of The View have taken Sunny Hostin to task for saying she’s not sure if serving as president would be “right” for Kamala Harris.

The former vice president came up during a discussion on the Monday, April 13 episode of the daytime talk show.

As the co-hosts talked about embattled California Rep. Eric Swalwell’s decision to end his gubernatorial campaign and leave Congress amid sexual assault allegations– which he denies–Hostin brought up Harris out of left field.

Ana Navarro said every member of Congress accused of doing “terrible things” should leave office.

Hostin agreed that “they should all go,” but said she’s more interested in what will happen next in the race to become California’s next governor.

“I think the bigger question for me now is California, it’s like running a country. Swalwell was running to be governor, and he was the lead candidate for the Democrats. I mean, California overtook Japan as the fourth-largest global economy. It has a GDP of $4.25 trillion,” Hostin told the audience.

Hostin then turned to Harris, and said the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee should consider joining the governor’s race instead of running for president again.

“I’d like to see Kamala Harris, maybe put her hat back in the ring for governor of California. I know that she’s talked about being president—I don’t know if that’s the right position for her—but my goodness, she certainly knows California,” Hostin said.

Navarro reminded her the filing deadline to enter the governor’s race had already passed. [It was on March 6].

The View posted a clip of the conversation on X. Nearly 300 people commented, and some were not happy about Hostin’s comments.

“Hey Sunny, why is POTUS not ‘the right position’ for Kamala Harris???” one person wrote.

“Only Sunny the moron could turn a sexual assault allegation by a Democrat into Kamala Harris should be the governor of California,” another person added.

“Clueless Sunny strikes again with her comments on @KamalaHarris getting back into the race for governor of California. Yep, that ship sailed months ago,” someone else commented.

After widespread speculation, Harris announced she would not run for governor in July 2025, but the White House is another story.

The former VP, U.S. senator and California attorney general hinted last week that she’s considering another run.

“Listen, I might. I might. I’m thinking about it. I’m thinking about it,” Harris said on April 10, at Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network (NAN) convention in New York.

“I served for four years being a heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States. I spent countless hours in my West Wing office, footsteps away from the Oval Office. I spent countless hours in the Oval Office, in the Situation Room,” she added. “I know what the job is, and I know what it requires.”
