‘Suits: LA’ Spinoff Moves Forward at NBC

Suits (USA Network)

Filming will soon begin on the pilot for a Suits spinoff set in Los Angeles.

This week NBC announced a script has been written and the offshoot will be called Suits: LA.

The pilot episode will feature all-new characters and is set on the West Coast, unlike the original series which unfolded in New York.

Victoria Mahoney (Power, The Morning Show) is set to direct the pilot from a script by Aaron Korsh (Suits, Pearson). The two are also executive producers, along with David Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein.

According to NBC’s description, the pilot revolves around Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has “reinvented himself, representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.” But Black’s firm is in crisis and he takes steps that go against his personal beliefs in order to survive.

Details about the spinoff come after former USA Network legal drama Suits began streaming on Netflix in June 2023, and shattered viewing records.

Suits aired on USA from June 2011 to September 2019. The series starred Gabriel Macht (“Harvey Specter”), Gina Torres (“Jessica Pearson”), Patrick J. Adams (“Mike Ross”), Meghan Markle (“Rachel Zane”), Rick Hoffman (“Louis Litt”), and Sarah Rafferty (“Donna Paulsen”).

NBC has not yet released information about the cast for the pilot and it’s unclear if any of the original stars will make appearances.

Filming on the pilot is scheduled to start in late March in Vancouver, Canada.
