Sherri Shepherd said goodbye after four seasons of bringing comedy and smiles to daytime television. The actress and comedian welcomed some of her closest friends to the stage for the final episode of Sherri on Thursday, May 21.
Niecy Nash, who was the most frequent guest over the show’s four-year run, returned one last time. She presented Shepherd with a trophy, framed pictures from her six appearances, and praised the daytime host for a job well done.
“My proudest moment is literally watching my best friend live her dreams,” said Nash. “I’m so happy about the joy you brought into people’s lives.”

There were also recorded messages from Tyler Perry, Oprah Winfrey, and comedian George Wallace.
Shepherd fought back tears throughout the episode. As her final guest, she welcomed actress and comedian Michelle Buteau, whose Netflix comedy Survival of the Thickest was canceled in December.
Buteau presented Shepherd with a large bouquet of flowers and the two sat down for a drink.
“I want to raise my glass to you friend, because not only are you so welcome and needed in Hollywood, you are a shining light in the world,” said Buteau. “Just because this season is over, that doesn’t mean this season of Sherri will ever be over.”

Sherri debuted in fall 2022, after taking over the timeslot held by The Wendy Williams Show. Shepherd’s self-titled show taped in New York, and regularly welcomed A-list guests. But on Feb. 2, 2026, Debmar-Mercury — which produced and distributed both shows — announced Sherri would end after four seasons.
The company’s co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said the decision to cancel the nationally syndicated talker was “driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show.”
At the end of Thursday’s episode, Shepherd thanked Debmar-Mercury for the opportunity and brought her staff to the stage. “You made my dreams come true and I will miss coming to work every day with these wonderful people,” she said.
In the final moment of the show, the comedian expressed gratitude to viewers at home for watching.
“For the last time, I hope something on today’s show put a smile on your face,” she shared. “To all the viewers watching, thank you for putting a smile on my face every day for the last four years. It has been pure joy sharing my life with you every day and these are memories I will never forget… bye bye, for now.”
