Shannon Sharpe watched Saturday Night Live parody his viral Katt Williams interview, and liked what he saw.
This weekend, SNL comic Devon Walker played Sharpe, and Ego Nwodim turned in a hilarious impression of Williams for what they called an “extended” version of the “Club Shay Shay” conversation.
Sharpe joked about it Sunday on his “Nightcap” sports podcast with fellow NFL star Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson.
“I can’t believe Saturday Night Live spoofed your boy, Ocho. The dude had on a brown tracksuit just like I had,” a smiling Sharpe said. “They had Katt with a big ole necklace on, man. I sure hope my sister watched this live.”

Ochocinco said the parody proves Sharpe has officially made it in the pop culture world.
“You’re famous now man. You know, the next step from Saturday Night Live — you might be hosting the Oscars,” Ochocinco said. “Once you hit Saturday Night Live, the next thing for you is the Oscars, the Emmys. You’re crossing over into that A-list type area and realm.”
No shade, but Shannon Sharpe hosting the Oscars is a stretch. He even admitted it, although he said he’d be open to hosting SNL.
“Look, I watched some of these guys and it’s hard. It used to be when they’d come on, they’d have the award shows with these comedians, [but] everybody is so uptight now, you can’t say this and you can’t say that. They’ve kind of taken the fun out of it,” Sharpe said.
He has a point. Comedian Jo Koy emceed the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month and struggled. He was roasted by viewers on social media and had a difficult time landing jokes with the star-studded audience at the Beverly Hilton. Halfway through his monologue, Koy admitted it was not going well.
“I got the gig 10 days ago! You want a perfect monologue? Shut up,” he said from the stage. “You’re kidding me right? Slow down, I wrote some of these and they are the ones you are laughing at.”
