‘Power: Origins’ First Look Reveals Young Ghost and Tommy

Starz has released the first official look at Power: Origins, giving fans a glimpse of the actors stepping into the roles of young Ghost and Tommy.

The network unveiled first-look photos and a teaser trailer on Thursday, July 16, showing Spence Moore as James “Ghost” St. Patrick, Charlie Mann as “Tommy Egan,” and MeKai Curtis returning as “Kanan Stark.”

The cast of the upcoming prequel series also includes Lizzy DeClement, Lenny Platt, Armani Gabriel, and Everett Osborne.

The new images mark the first time fans have seen Moore and Mann in character as younger versions of the roles made famous by fan favorite actors Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora on the original Power.

In the 30-second teaser, young Ghost tells Tommy he won’t stop until they become street legends. “We came in this motherf–er to touch the sky, brother. I won’t let us settle for less,” he says.

The preview comes just weeks before the Aug. 7 series finale of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, which will introduce the prequel.

According to Starz, Power: Origins traces the early years of Ghost, Tommy, and Kanan as they begin their rise in New York City’s drug game, and follows the trio as ambitious young hustlers determined to build an empire.

Power: Origins is created by Courtney A. Kemp and Sascha Penn.

Penn serves as showrunner and executive producer of the series, and co-wrote the pilot episode with Kemp.

“Ghost and Tommy’s backstories have fueled years of constant fascination and speculation among fans, and I’m thrilled to be able to answer some long-held questions and share new layers of the story that viewers won’t see coming,” Penn said in a statement earlier this year.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is also an executive producer through his G-Unit Film and Television. Additional executive producers include Mark Canton, Chris Selak, Kevin Fox, and Pete Chatmon, who also directs.

The series is the fourth spinoff in the  Power franchise, following Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force.

Lionsgate Television is producing the prequel for Starz. The new series is currently in production in New Jersey. A release date will be announced later.

Another series titled Power: Legacy is also in the works.
