Reports on the day of his death said he was rushed to the hospital during New Year’s Eve celebrations, and suffered multiple heart attacks. He died a short time later at age 30.

Gordon’s death came three years after he was found liable for the wrongful death of Bobbi Kristina Brown in a civil case, and ordered by a judge to pay $36 million to her estate.

Authorities in Georgia, where Brown lived with Gordon, launched an investigation but criminal charges were never filed. Gordon insisted he did nothing wrong.
