Former Real Housewives of Potomac star Mia Thornton faces fresh legal trouble nearly a year after her tearful arrest at an Atlanta airport.

The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has filed a felony theft by taking charge against Thornton over allegations she stole furniture from a condominium she was renting, according to court documents obtained this week by TMZ.

The documents allege Thornton and a man named Jared McGriff took furniture and a television valued at least $5,000 but less than $25,000 on Oct. 28, 2025.

The two were said to be roommates and the alleged theft occurred when they moved out of a furnished Atlanta condominium in the middle of the night.

Authorities alleged several items were removed from the property without permission from the owner.

Thornton was arrested weeks later at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Officers took the reality star into custody on Nov. 19, 2025, after U.S. customs staff learned she had an outstanding arrest warrant, as Urban Hollywood 411 previously reported.

Customs officials alerted the Atlanta Police Department, which has a branch office at the airport.

“Officers identified the individual as Ms. Mia Fields-Thornton, who had an active City of Atlanta warrant related to a larceny involving an alleged furniture theft,” police said in a news release.

Body camera video obtained by Urban Hollywood 411 showed Thornton breaking down in tears during the arrest. She was sobbing so heavily that an officer struggled to place her in handcuffs.

“Relax for a second. Relax,” he said.

According to the police report, Thornton was accused of taking furniture and electronics worth more than $11,000 from the condo. The report said Thornton and a male roommate “suddenly moved out of the unit,” and allegedly took furniture, a TV, radio and DVD player.

Following the arrest, Thornton released a statement on social media.

“Refined. Unmoved. Unshakeable,” she wrote. “In the midst of unexpected moments, I’m remembering who I am: a mother, a creator, a woman evolving in real time. I’m choosing peace, accountability, and personal growth. Thank you to those who continue to support my journey.”

Thornton appeared on The Real Housewives of Potomac for four seasons, after joining the Bravo series in Season 6 and remaining through Season 9.

She announced her departure in April 2025, telling fans her family was relocating to Atlanta.

Her bio on the RHOP website said she graduated from Southeastern Institute, with a certification in neuromuscular massage therapy. She had an ownership stake in the Massage Envy Spas.
