Lil Loaded, a Dallas rapper known for his viral 2019 summer hit “6locc 6a6y,” died Monday. He was 20 years old.
USA Today confirmed the rising drill rapper, born Dashawn Robertson, passed away after speaking to the Dallas County medical examiner’s office. His cause and manner of death have not yet been officially released.
However, Lil Loaded’s attorney Ashkan Mehryari told the Dallas Morning News the rapper died by suicide. The death was “very tragic,” the attorney said. “He had a very bright and promising music career ahead of him.”
CBS Dallas reported a family member found the rapper’s body on May 31, with a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics responded and declared him deceased at the scene.
Robertson kept his fans constantly up-to-date on his private life through his Instagram account, including posting in April about being under house arrest. He captioned a photo of himself wearing an ankle monitor, “Sincerely, Mr 6lue 6ag??”
He was arrested last year in connection with the murder of his best friend, 18-year-old Khalil Walker. Police officers were called to Walker’s home in southwestern Dallas on Oct. 25. Walker was found shot with a rifle and transported to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.
According to published reports, he was indicted on a lesser charge of manslaughter in March. He was scheduled to appear at a hearing for the case today, Tuesday, June 1.
The rapper’s final post on Instagram was in celebration of “6locc 6a6y” being certified gold on May 25. His music video for the song has amassed more than 29 million views on YouTube.
