Fox News host Laura Ingraham has vowed to kick Nike to the curb after the sports brand shelved plans to sell a sneaker featuring a 13-star version of the U.S. flag known as the “Betsy Ross flag.”
Ingraham took to Twitter Monday to say she planned to boycott the company because of its decision to drop the $140 shoe.
“No more @nike sneakers for our family,” she tweeted.

Ingraham was steamed after seeing a Wall Street Journal story that said Nike nixed the Independence Day-themed Air Max 1 after former NFL star Colin Kaepernick objected to the design because the flag was associated with slavery. Extremist groups are also said to wave the Ross flag at rallies.
That was of little concern to Ingraham, who earlier tweeted out the WSJ story and called Nike’s decision “Pathetic!!!”

Kaepernick has an endorsement deal with Nike. While the company didn’t say the athlete and activist influenced its decision, it did confirm plans to sack the shoe.
“Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured an old version of the American flag,” Nike spokesman Mark Rhodes said in a statement Monday.
Ingraham isn’t the only conservative seeing red over Nike’s decision.
Arizona’s Republican Gov. Doug Ducey blasted the company Tuesday and vowed to pull a $1 million tax incentive for a Nike factory in the state. It’s unclear if the company will move forward with its plant. But according to the Arizona Republic, the facility is expected to bring up to 500 jobs.
