Kenya Moore doesn’t dispute a claim made by NeNe Leakes that she “built” The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but Moore says the franchise has changed ownership.

Moore addressed Leakes’ comment during an interview this week with former RHOA producer Carlos King on his “Reality With the King” podcast.

“She’s a force all her own, you can’t take that away from her,” Moore said about Leakes. “That’s one thing about me, I am never going to not give you your flowers. She was a major force. And I’m never going to discount what you contributed to any space that you’re in. She was a major force, ‘multiplier’ as you like to say, of Real Housewives and you can’t ever erase that from her.”

But Moore said NeNe’s influence on the Bravo reality series has long since passed.

“She built the house, but it got foreclosed on,” Moore said jokingly. “I mean, she didn’t pay the bills.”

King laughed then asked, “Who took over the deed?” Moore responded by laughing and flipping her hair.

Last month, NeNe sat down with King and said she no longer watches RHOA because the show is “tumbling down” without her.

“I’ve never watched since I left, but I have honestly watched the clips that have come down social media,” she said. “But me turning my TV on and tuning in, is just something I cannot do because as far as I’m concerned, they’re all sitting in my house, the house that I built.”

NeNe was part of the original cast and appeared on the hit series from 2008 to 2020.

But in April 2022, she filed a discrimination lawsuit against NBC Universal, network executives, Bravo, production companies True Entertainment and Truly Original, and Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen. Six months later, she dropped the lawsuit and dismissed all claims against the companies.

Kenya has been part of the RHOA cast since season 5, which premiered in 2012. The former Miss USA is also an entrepreneur. Her Kenya Moore Hair Care line is now sold in Sally Beauty Supply stores across the nation.

Kenya additionally has a budding acting career. She’s had roles in the films Waiting to Exhale (1995), Senseless (1998), and Deliver Us From Eva (2003). On television, she had appeared on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Martin, Living Single, Girlfriends, Saints & Sinners, and Games People Play.
