Kendrick Lamar will be joined by at least one special guest when he takes the stage for the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show.
On Thursday, Jan. 23, Apple Music released a trailer for the February performance, and revealed the Compton rapper will team up with his “All the Stars” collaborator SZA in New Orleans.
The sports-themed trailer shows Kendrick on a football field before SZA walks out and dumps a cooler full of blue Gatorade over his head.
News that the pair will be performing together comes as they prepare to co-headline a series of U.S. stadium concerts billed as the Grand National Tour.
The tour kicks off in Minneapolis on April 19, and concludes in Washington, D.C. on June 18.
But first, Kendrick Lamar and SZA will be front and center at the Super Bowl.
The NFL announced Kendrick would headline TV’s most-watched music event in a statement on Sept. 8.
“Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar. Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop,” the league said.
Added Kendrick, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
The rapper is one of the most acclaimed hip-hop artists currently on the music scene.
He’s taken home 17 Grammy Awards, per Grammy.com.
In 2018, he won a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album Damn, becoming the first non-classical, non-jazz musician to win the prestigious honor.
Super Bowl LIX takes place on Feb. 9, 2025 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
