It’s unclear if he’s serious, but Kanye West says he’s tossing his hat into the 2020 presidential race.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,” the hip-hop star tweeted on July 4th, along with the hashtag #2020VISION

Wife Kim Kardashian West immediately endorsed her husband and shared his announcement on Twitter.

Kanye is a supporter of President Donald Trump and visited the White House in 2018, while wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.

The visit sparked backlash from many of the rapper’s fans and other hip-hop stars, including T.I., who said West was in the White House “ass kissing and boot licking.”

The “Power” rapper has teased a presidential run for years. But he also has a new single out called “Wash Us in the Blood,” so this could just be part an elaborate publicity stunt.

With the Democratic and Republican party slots already taken, West would have to run as an independent. According to ABC News, it’s already too late for his name to be added to the ballots in Indiana, Maine, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina and Texas, except as a write-in candidate.
