Jason Mitchell, a rising star with roles in several critically-acclaimed productions, has been dropped from Showtime’s The Chi amid multiple allegations of misconduct and inappropriate behavior, according to published reports.
Tiffany Boone, who played his on-screen girlfriend on The Chi, was one of “several actresses on the series who had issues with Mitchell,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In an article published Monday night, THR said Boone made repeated sexual harassment complaints against Mitchell and said she felt so unsafe around the actor that at times she brought her fiancé to set for an added layer of protection.

Boone reportedly left the series after telling producers she could no longer work with Mitchell. The actor, who played Brandon Johnson, remained on the show following Boone’s departure. But he was later dropped when other actresses reportedly said they had problems working with him.
Mitchell, 32, was one of the leads on the Lena Waithe-created Showtime series. Waithe did not respond to a request for comment from THR.
In addition to being let go from The Chi, which was recently renewed for a third season, Mitchell was dropped from the Netflix film Desperados, Variety reported. The actor was reportedly involved in some type of off-set incident during production on Desperados, which is set in Mexico.
Mitchell’s agent and talent manager have also parted ways with the actor. None of the parties involved commented on their reasons for cutting ties with him.
The New Orleans native rose to prominence following his breakout performance as rapper Eazy-E in the 2015 film Straight Outta Compton. He also had roles in the Oscar-nominated Mudbound, Detroit and Kong: Skull Island.
