CBS Mornings host Gayle King has some thoughts on the relationship scandal at rival Good Morning America — it’s “very messy and very sloppy.”

King chimed in on the romance between T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach on Thursday, during an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live.

Host Andy Cohen asked how she feels when “all hell is breaking loose” at ABC, with the network pulling the GMA3 co-anchors from the air amid a flood of tabloid stories.

“Oh, gosh. Of all the questions, I was hoping we would not talk about this,” King said.

“I’m not asking you about what’s going on over there,” Cohen responded. “I want to know, when all hell is breaking loose at GMA or the Today show, do you come into work and you open the paper like, ‘Thank God it’s not us?’” King responded, “No. I mean, I look at the situation and I do say it’s very interesting what’s happening over there. It’s just gotten very messy and very sloppy.”

The morning TV host said she initially reacted differently.

“In the beginning, I actually thought, good on Good Morning America. They’re saying they’re not taking them off the air. It’s two consenting adults,” King said. “But then the more you read, it’s just very messy.”

Robach has been married to Melrose Place actor Andrew Shue since 2010. The pair don’t have children together, but Robach has two children from her first marriage. Holmes married attorney Marilee Fiebig in 2010. They share a daughter, and Holmes has two children from a previous marriage.

King expressed concern for the pair’s families.

“To me, it’s just a sad situation because you’ve got kids involved. You’ve got families involved, and I keep thinking about that. I’m very concerned about that,” said King.

Robach and Holmes were sidelined from Good Morning America’s third hour on Dec. 5. The decision came after a string of explosive reports saying the two news anchors have been in a romantic relationship for several months. The stories included pictures and video.

ABC News President Kim Godwin made the announcement that another anchor team would temporarily take over GMA3.

“It’s become an internal and an external distraction, the relationship between two of our colleagues,” Godwin said. “While the relationship is not a violation of company policies, I have taken the last few days to think through what I think is best for our organization.”

Godwin added that the decision was “necessary for the brand.”
