Paramount+ has released the first photos from Frisco King, giving viewers a look at Samuel L. Jackson as a mob hitman from New Orleans looking to make a fresh start in Texas.
Jackson leads the cast as Russell Lee Washington Jr., known as Lee. He first played the character on season 3 of Tulsa King, appearing in the episodes “Dead Weight” and “Jesus Lizard.”
The photos show Lee strolling through the streets wearing a suit, seated in a club, and catching up with crime boss Dwight “The General” Manfredi, played by Sylvester Stallone.
In the new series, Lee declines an assignment from jealous New York mobsters to kill Oklahoma crime boss Dwight. Lee gets out of town and heads to Dallas suburb Frisco, Texas, hoping to build an enterprise of his own.
Lee and Dwight have history. They met in federal prison, where Dwight saved Lee’s life roughly 20 years before the events of Tulsa King. Dwight remembers him as a man of honor and calls him “the best there ever was” at his work as a hitman.
The cast also includes Asa Germann, Kai Caster, Lilah Pate and Savanna Gann.
Prolific TV producer Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone and Lioness) will write all eight episodes of the first season and executive produce alongside Stallone and Jackson.
The spinoff was previously called NOLA King in a nod to Lee’s New Orleans roots.
In July 2025, Paramount+ announced the show and said Jackson had sign on to the series in his first leading role on TV.
“Samuel L. Jackson brings unparalleled presence and global appeal, making him the perfect choice to maximize the momentum of one of our biggest hits and transform it into a hit franchise,” Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment, said when the show was announced.
Production began in Fort Worth, Texas, in March 2026.
“We had a lotta MF’n Fun!!!” Jackson said in a recent interview with USA Today. “I just hope the audience enjoys it as much as I did living in this world over eight episodes.”
Frisco King will stream on Paramount+ sometime this year. A premiere date will be announced later.
