Dorzon was named as one of the victims of the shooting after Prince George’s County Council member Wanika Fisher released an official statement about the crime on Nov. 6.

“Chef Dorzon owns two amazing restaurants in Hyattsville, is a valued member of the District 2 community, and my dear friend. Such a horrible act couldn’t have happened to a better person,” Fisher wrote.

Adding, “I am sending my deepest sympathies to him and the second victim, as well as their families and friends, and I wish them both a speedy recovery. We have no place for this kind of senseless violence in our district or our county.”

Dorzon released his own statement on Nov 9, via the Instagram accounts for his restaurants Huncho House and 1123 by Chef Tobias.

“Thank you for the overwhelming love during this challenging time,” the Tournament of Champions and Guy’s Grocery Games star wrote. “I’m incredibly grateful to be on the road to recovery, and my heart is full seeing your messages.”

The celebrity chef is a former professional football player. He played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tennessee Titans. Dorzon also hosts Timeout with Tobias on ESPN+ and Hulu.
