A crazed fan used a replica handgun with a retractable knife blade on it to attack Dave Chappelle, that’s the word from Los Angeles police.
The LAPD released images of the bizarre weapon on Wednesday that they said Isaiah Lee, 23, brandished when he jumped on stage at the Hollywood Bowl, causing a huge security scare.

The assault happened at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday just as Chappelle wrapped up his stand-up set at the “Netflix is a Joke” comedy festival.
“As he was exiting the stage a male, who was part of the audience, jumped onto the stage and tackled the comedian to the ground,” the LAPD said in a press release. “The suspect produced what was later discovered to be a replica handgun and pointed the item at the victim.”
Hollywood Bowl uniformed security officers hauled the suspect off the stage as attendees recorded video of the attack on their phones. Among the people rushing in to protect Chappelle was actor and comedian Jamie Foxx.

Officers from the Hollywood Division LAPD station quickly responded and took control of Lee. He was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon. Paramedics transported him to an area hospital for injuries sustained during the altercation with security. He was treated and cleared to be processed by police.
“The replica handgun that also contained a knife blade was recovered and later processed as evidence,” the LAPD said.
It’s unclear how Lee was able to get the weapon inside the Hollywood Bowl, which requires attendees to go through metal detectors and security checkpoints.
Lee is being held on $30,000 bail. He’s been described in several media reports as an aspiring rapper.
Chappelle, 48, was not injured during the attack.
