The first female Verzuz music battle is headed to Instagram Live just in time for Mother’s Day.
Swizz Beatz and Timbaland announced on Instagram Friday that the next installment of the popular virtual music series will feature Erykah Badu and Jill Scott.
“It’s time for the Queens to represent @erykahbadu vs @missjillscott the paper work is in @timbaland,” Swizz wrote. “Shout out (Femme It Forward) let’s go May 9th the day before Mother’s Day zone.”
Both Grammy-winning R&B singers have a string of hits that music fans love.

This isn’t the first time that Ms. Badu has given her fans a virtual concert. She’s continued to deliver a set from her bedroom quarantine concert series on Instagram, charging one dollar during the pandemic.
Producers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland started the IG live battles to give music lovers isolating at home during the COVID-19 crisis a little entertainment.
Previous battles include Teddy Riley vs Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and T-Pain vs Lil Jon.
The battle between producers Riley and Babyface drew more than a half million people. The Verzuz IG battles have become so popular that they’ve reportedly caught the attention of television networks, but so far the creators say they have no plans to take the shows offline.
The battle between Erykah Badu and Jill Scott takes place on Instagram live May 9 at 7 pm EST.
