‘Godfather of Harlem’ Unveils Season 2 Premiere Date and New Trailer

Epix announced the season 2 premiere date for Godfather of Harlem on Thursday and unveiled a new trailer, showing lead character Bumpy Johnson preparing to meet his rivals.

According to a press release from the premium cable network, “Godfather of Harlem Season 2 finds Bumpy Johnson battling the New York crime families for control of the lucrative and murderous ‘French Connection,’ the pipeline for heroin that runs from Marseilles to New York Harbor.”

In the new trailer, Oscar-winning series star Forest Whitaker’s Bumpy is shown shaving his face alone in a dark room while his voiceover says, “You guys have been trying to kill me for months. I’m here.”

Members of the New York crime families are meeting inside a restaurant plotting Bumpy’s demise as he warns, “Harlem is mine.”

The trailer ends with a reveal of the season premiere date on April 18.

Casting this season will include the return of Vincent D’Onofrio (Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Daredevil), Ilfenesh Hadera (She’s Gotta Have It, Baywatch), Nigél Thatch (Selma, American Dreams), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian), Lucy Fry (Bright, Vampire Academy), Rafi Gavron (A Star is Born), and Antoinette Crowe-Legacy. Cast members Erik LaRay Harvey (Luke Cage) and Demi Singleton (King Richard) have been upped to series regulars.

Whitaker is also serving as one of the show’s executive producers along with Nina Yang Bongiovi, James Acheson, Markuann Smith and Joe Chappelle. The series is produced by ABC Signature.
