Tamron Hall thinks Don Lemon has a “unique ability to attract headlines,” and the former CNN anchor lived up to that reputation when he stopped by Hall’s daytime talk show.
Lemon made an appearance on Tamron Hall Thursday, March 21, to discuss his now-viral interview with SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
The newscaster and the tech mogul had a tense one-on-one conversation for the premiere episode of “The Don Lemon Show” podcast — which currently has over 1 million views on YouTube.

The hour-long conversation drew widespread interest after Musk courted Lemon to debut his podcast on X, formerly Twitter, and become a voice for the platform. The deal fell apart almost immediately after they taped the interview and Musk sent a text message to Lemon’s agent saying, “Contract is Cancelled.”
Lemon told Hall the interview started to go sideways when he grilled Musk about his social media posts claiming “DEI” – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion – is being used to “lower standards” in the medical and airline industries.
Hall then brought up Musk’s recent post on X, formerly Twitter, slamming Lemon for asking for “everything” during his contract talks with X — or as the New York Post put it, “Lemon demanded the sun, the moon and the stars.”
The outlet said Lemon requested a “Tesla Cybertruck, a $5 million upfront payment on top of an $8 million salary” and an “equity stake” in X.
After the report surfaced, Musk bashed Lemon in a post on X. Lemon told Hall that’s just how Musk operates — by hurling insults in cyberspace.
“It’s an obvious distraction,” Lemon said. “They’re trying to sully my reputation and they’re trying to smear me.”
Hall’s response, “I would have asked for a fleet of Teslas.”
Lemon then quipped, “People ask for a lot of things, that don’t mean you gone get it!”
Earlier in the interview, the ex-CNN This Morning star said getting fired from the network in April 2023, left him so shattered that he needed antidepressants.
“I have suffered from depression. I take an antidepressant now,” he shared. “It helped me get through the summer after losing my job. I do talk therapy now, but my doctor has also done guided therapy with me on drugs.”
