D.L. Hughley Slams Jason Whitlock for Calling LeBron James a Fame ‘Junkie’

D.L. Hughley dunked on Fox Sports host Jason Whitlock for calling LeBron James a “helicopter dad” and fame “junkie.”

Whitlock made headlines earlier this week when he criticized James’ behavior at his son’s AAU basketball game. During his Fox Sports 1 show, Speak For Yourself, Whitlock bashed the Los Angeles Lakers star for cheering loudly and joining his son on the court in the pre-game layup line. He said James has a desperate “thirst for fame” similar to cocaine addiction.

“It’s inappropriate,” Whitlock said. “It points to how much fame has inevitably changed LeBron over the past decade. Fame is a drug more potent and dangerous than cocaine. LeBron is a fame and social media junkie. He moved to Los Angeles looking for a better high.”

The veteran journalist’s comments did not sit well with Hughley. On Wednesday’s episode of TV One’s The DL Hughley Show, he referred to the sportscaster as “Jason ham hock” and made a reference to slavery.

“Jason Whitlock is the kind of black man that loves to please his masters,” Hughley said, before comparing Whitlock to a dog.

“I don’t even think they pay him. I think they give him snacks, roll him over, and rub his belly because he’s so obedient all the time,” Hughley continued.

“He basically is intimating that LeBron James is too involved in his child’s life, and he’s intimating that LeBron James is doing it for his own fame and fortune, for more attention,” the comedian added.

Hughley then slammed Whitlock for comparing James to LaVar Ball.

“Now the notion that all of a sudden that LeBron James, the most famous athlete on the face of the earth would need more attention is ridiculous,” Hughley said before taking a swipe at Whitlock’s weight. “That would be like Jason Whitlock paying attention to what he eats. That just doesn’t happen.”
