The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has determined the cause of death for Yadira Calito, the family nanny for singer Katharine McPhee and her music producer husband David Foster.
According to coroner’s online records, Calito died in the hospital from blunt trauma on Aug. 9 — the same day she was struck by an SUV at a Toyota dealership in the Mission Hills neighborhood of L.A.
The manner of death was listed as an accident.
Calito, 55, was reportedly looking at cars when an 84-year-old woman drove a 2017 Toyota RAV4 into Hamer Toyota.

Local news stations reported on the crash the day of the accident. A witness described the horrifying scene to Fox 11 news.
“I heard a loud noise. Me and this other lady jumped back and we looked back and this lady had crashed all the way inside,” the unidentified male witness said, adding that the victim was dragged and pinned under the SUV.
A Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said people at the dealership tried in vain to save the victim’s life.
“Bystanders jumped into action, performed CPR. Our firefighter paramedics took over and transported [her] to a local trauma center in grave condition,” said LAFD Capt. Erik Scott.
A detective with the Los Angeles Police Department held a briefing at the scene and said the elderly driver became confused after bringing her vehicle in for service.
“She accelerated instead of pressing on the brakes, and she went into the service area, into some offices, and ran over three people,” Det. Lisset Fuentes told reporters.
A spokesperson in the LAPD Media Relations division told Urban Hollywood 411 investigators determined the crash was an accident and no charges would be filed.
The crash left two employees at the dealership injured. The workers — a 23-year-old man and a 35-year-old man — were taken to a hospital alongside Calito. The LAPD said both staffers were expected to fully recover from their injuries.
Days after the accident, TMZ identified the woman who died as nanny Yadira Calito.
Katharine McPhee, who was on a concert tour in Asia with David Foster at the time of the incident, quickly returned home when she heard news of the incident involving her child’s nanny.
The couple, who have been married since 2019, share a 2-year-old son named Rennie.
In a statement on Instagram, the former American Idol contestant cited a family tragedy as the reason for her sudden departure.
“It’s with a heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final 2 shows of our Asia run,” the 39-year-old performer wrote. “David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family.”
