American Idol alum C.J. Harris died of a heart attack, according to the Walker County Coroner’s office in Jasper, Alabama.
Coroner’s officials said Thursday that doctors at the hospital where Harris, 31, was treated determined his official cause of death was a heart attack and no autopsy was needed, TMZ reported.
The singer passed away on Sunday, Jan. 15, after being rushed to the hospital in medical distress. Medical personnel performed CPR on Harris, but he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The Jasper, Alabama native auditioned for American Idol in 2014. He made it to the Hollywood portion of the competition during the show’s 13th season, and came in sixth place. After leaving the series, he took part in the American Idol season 13 tour.
The show paid tribute to Harris on Instagram following his death.
“C.J. Harris was an incredible talent, and the news of his passing deeply saddens us,” read an Instagram Story from the show’s official account. “He will be truly missed.”
