As he struggles to get his campaign back on track after a disappointing debate performance, President Joe Biden is turning his attention to Black voters.

Biden has booked a sit-down interview on Black Entertainment Television (BET), set to air Wednesday, July 17.

In a press release this weekend, BET announced the president will be interviewed by award-winning journalist Ed Gordon during the primetime special titled “Black America Votes: The Biden Interview.”

“The conversation will focus on critical issues impacting our community and discuss why Black Americans should continue to support his candidacy amidst growing public concerns and calls for him to withdraw,” BET said.

During the half-hour interview, Biden will be asked about his fitness for office; the state of the economy for Black families; the viral Project 2025 conservative policy agenda; and the fight to engage Black voters.

The interview airs Wednesday, July 17, at 10 PM ET/9 PM CT on BET.

It’s not just Black voters worried about Biden’s ability to serve as POTUS for another four years.

Following the presidential debate on June 27 with former President Donald Trump, many voters shared their frustrations about Biden’s cognitive ability, his focus and age.

A growing number of prominent Democrats and Hollywood donors have spoken out about Biden’s fitness to be president, and voiced concerns that his dismal approval rating can’t recover as November grows near, leading to a Trump  win.

In a July 11 Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos poll, 56 percent of Democrats said they want to see Biden exit the race following the debate.

Biden, 81, addressed the pleas to back out with a post on X published July 5 — making it clear he plans to remain in the race.

“Let me say this as clearly as I can,” the post said. “I’m the sitting President of the United States. I’m the nominee of the Democratic party. I’m staying in the race.”

At a news conference during the NATO summit on July 11, Biden discussed Ukraine, China, and other foreign policy issues, giving some hope that he could continue to do the job.

But according to The Hill, he also stumbled over his words at moments and mistakenly referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump.”

Biden’s sit-down interview with BET marks one of many press appearances scheduled by his re-election campaign in recent weeks. And though his team is hard at work, it’s unclear whether he can turn voters around before the November election.
