BET has moved up the premiere date for its Ruff Ryders Chronicles docuseries from September to Aug. 12.
A new trailer for the 5-part original series was released Tuesday, and focuses a spotlight on one of hip hop’s most iconic labels in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The label’s roster included influential artists such as DMX, Eve, Swizz Beatz, The LOX, and more.

The docuseries will chronicle Ruff Ryders’ street origins and highlight what led to its rapid rise, fall, and ultimate rebirth — while showcasing how label founders Joaquin (Waah), Darin (Dee), and their sister Chivon Dean built a multi-million-dollar empire.
According to a press release, the docuseries tells “the fascinating behind-the-scenes story of what it took to build this company and the extraordinary impact it had on hip hop.”
The BET original series will also feature interviews with the aforementioned artists and others who were essential to the story of how the label achieved its success.
Ruff Ryders Chronicles is produced by Entertainment One (eOne) and Creature Films, with Mark Ford and Kevin Lopez serving as executive producers for Creature Films. Erica Hanson serves as executive producer.
The series is set to premiere Aug. 12 at 10/9c on BET.
