Anne Heche has fallen into a coma and is in critical condition, after she was involved in a fiery car crash last week in Los Angeles.
“Shortly after the accident, Anne Heche became unconscious, slipping into a coma,” a representative for the actress told Page Six on Monday. “She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention.”
The statement came as a spokesperson for Los Angeles police told the LA Times investigators had obtained a warrant to test Heche’s blood at the hospital after her blue Mini Cooper slammed into a two-story home and sparked a large fire. Officers believe Heche may have been intoxicated.
No one else was injured in the crash.

Heche’s condition is worse than previously thought. She was initially described as being in “stable condition.”
The crash occurred on Friday, Aug. 5, in the 1700 block of South Walgrove Avenue in the Mar Vista neighborhood around 11 a.m. Heche’s car slammed into the home, causing the structure to erupt in flames, as previously reported.
Firefighters pulled the actress from the wreckage and placed her on a stretcher.
Ring surveillance video obtained by local news station ABC7 showed Heche’s car speeding down a residential street before plowing into the house. The mangled and badly burned vehicle is then pulled out of the house and hauled away. The actress is said to have “severe burns.”
Neighbors said the woman living in home lost everything in the fire caused by the crash. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help her. As of Monday evening, it had raised more than $98,000.
Heche, 53, is an award-winning actress who has been in show business for decades.
The Ohio native previously had roles on the TV series All Rise, Chicago P.D., Quantico and The Brave. She won a daytime Emmy-Award for her work on Another World in the 1990s, and co-starred in the films Donnie Brasco and Six Days Seven Nights.
