They go back decades and were once rivals. But Al B. Sure! never sat down for an interview about Sean “Diddy” Combs — until now.

The “Nite and Day” singer breaks his silence about the embattled music mogul in the new Peacock documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy.

“For the record, I received more than 40 inquiries from production companies and networks since brother Sean’s incarceration,” Al B. Sure! says in the film, adding that he decided to speak out because he owes it to the late Kim Porter to share “the truth.”

The singer-songwriter and Porter are the biological parents of Quincy Brown, a 33-year-old actor and musician, raised by Diddy after the music mogul began dating Porter.

Porter, a former model, met Diddy while they both worked at Uptown Records — an upstart label founded by music executive Andre Harrell in the late 1980s. Diddy and Porter would go on to have three children together.

In the documentary, which began streaming today, Al B. Sure!, 56, makes several bombshell claims.

He notes that most of the people connected to Uptown’s early years — Harrell, Porter, and rapper Heavy D — have all died and he doesn’t think it’s a coincidence.

“Let’s just say there’s a lot to uncover, a lot that goes on in the industry, which is not my job to uncover. But it’s something that’s been going on in the industry, and those who speak about it usually meet their demise,” he says.

Al B. Sure! reveals he and Porter remained close, even after their relationship ended. He insists Porter expressed concerns about Diddy and warned him not to repeat what she shared about the mogul.

“What she did say is that something’s not right. His soul was going completely dark, like he’s just not there,” Al B. Sure! says. “She made me promise on my son, Quincy Taylor Brown’s life, not to ever reveal because she was in complete fear for my life.”

In a statement to Extra, Diddy’s legal team denied all of the allegations in the film: “This documentary recycles and perpetuates the same lies and conspiracy theories that have been slung against Mr. Combs for months. It is disappointing to see NBC and Peacock rolling in the same mud as unethical tabloid reporters. By providing a platform for proven liars and opportunists to make false criminal accusations, the documentary is irresponsible journalism of the worst kind.”

Al B. Sure! says Porter was keeping notes about what she witnessed while she was with Diddy.

“She was keeping a diary and things of that nature. Someone got the passcode to a phone and her computer, and they found out that she was writing what was going on behind closed doors,” the singer alleges.

In September 2024, Porter’s four children released a statement saying claims that she was working on a memoir before her death are “simply untrue.”

Later in the film, Al B. Sure! suggests Porter was murdered. Porter, 47, died at her home in November 2018. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said she passed away of natural causes from lobar pneumonia.

Al B. Sure! disagrees with those findings.

“That’s just a day that will never, ever leave my mind,” he says in the film. “And just that empty feeling of like, ‘Nah, something is not right with this.’”

The singer came close to death himself.  In December 2020, he shared a string of health updates on social media.

In the film, he offers more details on his near-fatal health crisis.

“I was in a coma, having multi-system organ failure,” he says. “Every organ is working off of a machine, except for the liver.”

The singer suggests someone tried to take his life.

“Even in the middle of me going through the tsunami of a medical crisis… I was mindful enough to remember. I kept a record of every single one of you who was sent to set me up, to assist in the attempted murder of Al B. Sure!” he says in the film.

“I can’t say too much at this moment related to legal situations, but I can tell you this, surviving death is not a game,” he adds.

Diddy was arrested on Sept. 16 in New York City and charged by federal prosecutors with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

He is currently jailed in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, after being denied bail by three different federal judges.

His trial is scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.
