Chris Rock is stepping behind the camera once again.
A24 released the first trailer for the actor-director’s new film, Misty Green, on Wednesday, July 22.
Written and directed by Rock, the drama stars Slow Horses actress Rosalind Eleazar in the title role.
The trailer opens with aging Black actress Misty getting kicked out of her apartment by a woman who says whatever Misty had going with her husband is “over.”
“I’ll give you a week to get your stuff together,” the woman tells Misty. “I’m broke,” she responds.
Misty is an award-winning actress but no longer gets cast in roles.
“Is Hollywood racist? Yep. Is it sexist, f–k yeah,” says her rep, played by Topher Grace. “But don’t act like you never had a shot.”
Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, Tracie Thoms, and Rock also have roles in the film.
The official synopsis reads, “Years after her Hollywood breakthrough, a talented actress whose career has stalled fights for her second act.”
The film is based on an original screenplay by Rock, who also serves as a producer alongside Peter Rice and David Worthen Brooks.
The comedian previously directed and co-wrote the films Head of State (2003), I Think I Love My Wife (2007), and Top Five (2014).
Misty Green will make its world premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, which runs Sept. 10-20.
The drama is scheduled to open nationwide in October. An official release date will be announced later.
