Welcome back to Hillman College. Netflix has unveiled the first photos from its upcoming A Different World sequel series, bringing some of the sitcom’s original stars together again.
The streamer released the official images on Monday, July 20, giving fans a preview of several legacy cast members reprising their roles from the iconic sitcom that aired on NBC from 1987 to 1993.
The photos feature Whitley Gilbert (played by Jasmine Guy), Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison), Ron Johnson (Darryl M. Bell), Freddie Brooks (Cree Summer), and Kimberly Reese (Charnele Brown) back on campus.

Additional original stars joining the sequel include Dawnn Lewis as Jaleesa Vinson-Taylor, Glynn Turman as Col. Bradford Taylor, Jenifer Lewis as Professor Davenport, and Jada Pinkett Smith as Lena James.
The new images also introduce the next class of students. Maleah Joi Moon stars as Deborah Wayne, the sheltered yet free-spirited youngest daughter of Whitley and Dwayne as she figures out her own path at Hillman.
She’s joined by Alijah Kai Haggins as Rashida, Cornell Young as Shaquille, Kennedi Reece as Hazel, Chibuikem Uche as Kojo, and Jordan Aaron Hall as Amir.
A spinoff of The Cosby Show, the original version of A Different World was set at fictional HBCU Hillman College and followed the lives of a core group of students and faculty. The show introduced the nation to the Black college experience and offered a look at campus life.
The 10-episode sequel series comes from creator, showrunner, writer, and executive producer Felicia Pride, with Debbie Allen serving as executive producer and director. Additional executive producers include Tom Werner, Reggie Rock Bythewood, Gina Prince-Bythewood, and Mandy Summers.
Allen helmed the first episode. The other directors are Tiffany Johnson (episodes 102, 105, 106), Angela Barnes (episodes 103, 104), Nefertite Nguvu (episodes 107, 108), and Bille Woodruff (episodes 109, 110).
A Different World begins streaming Sept. 24 on Netflix.
