A relentless big city cop becomes obsessed with taking down the mastermind behind a string of heists in the trailer for Netflix thriller Nemesis.
The upcoming series from Power creator Courtney A. Kemp follows two men on opposite sides of the law, and what happens when their worlds collide.
“Real men live by our own set of rules,” the master thief says in the video.
“Nah. Real men know right from wrong,” the Los Angeles Police Department cop counters.
The series follows LAPD Det. Isaiah Stiles (played by Matthew Law), who lost his partner to a notorious robbery crew and won’t stop until he takes down the leader, high-end thief Coltrane Wilder (portrayed by Y’lan Noel).
The trailer shows two opposing worlds — the gritty streets in L.A.’s jewelry district and the city’s fabulous wealth.
According to the official description, “What starts as a series that aims to subvert the heist genre at every turn, amped with thrilling life-or-death stakes, family dynamics and explosive action, actually gives birth to an exploration of what drives us, sustains us, and ultimately destroys us.”
The cast includes Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, Gabrielle Dennis, Sophina Brown, Cedric Joe, Jeff Pierre, and The Wire alums Domenick Lombardozzi and Michael Potts.
Moe Irvin, Quincy Isaiah, Jay Reeves, Mike O’Malley, Stephanie Sigman, Khalilah Joi, Shane Johnson, Siua Ikale’o, Dawnn Lewis, Mark Feuerstein, and Chris Bauer have guest roles.
Courtney A. Kemp is showrunner, creator and executive producer. Tani Marole is co-creator and executive producer. The one-hour episodes are directed by Millicent Shelton (The Night Agent), Ruben Garcia (SEAL Team), Rob Hardy, and co-executive producer Mario Van Peebles (Power Book III: Raising Kanan).
All eight episodes of Nemesis begin streaming Thursday, May 14 on Netflix.
