The clock is ticking to halt a bomb plot in the trailer for season 2 of Criminal Record.
Apple TV released the tension-filled preview on Wednesday, ahead of the British crime drama’s April 22 premiere.
The video shows award-winning Doctor Who alum Peter Capaldi as Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty. He’s working alongside The Good Fight star Cush Jumbo as Detective Sergeant June Lenker.
The two join forces to hunt down a killer and unravel a bomb plot before it’s too late.
“This far-right gang has been trafficking weapons. They’re planning something else,” Capaldi warns.
“What if there’s a bomb?” Jumbo asks, before expressing doubt that authorities can stop the plot in time, to prevent disaster from happening.
Capaldi reminds her she’s working in intelligence and failure is not an option. “What we do here is put out the fires before they start!” he says.
Here’s the official storyline: “When a young man is stabbed to death at a political rally, rival police officers June Lenker and Daniel Hegarty are forced into an uneasy alliance. But what starts as a hunt for a murderer escalates into an undercover operation to foil a far-right bomb plot in the heart of London.”
Joining the cast this season are Dustin Demri-Burns, Luca Pasqualino, Luther Ford, Lyndsey Marshal, and Peter Sullivan. Returning stars include Shaun Dooley, Stephen Campbell Moore, and Charlie Creed-Miles.
The eight episode season is produced for Apple TV by Tod Productions and STV Studios. Executive producers include Elaine Collins, Chris Sussman, Paul Rutman, Capaldi and Jumbo. Ben A. Williams and Joelle Mae David direct.
Season 2 of Criminal Record debuts globally Wednesday, April 22 on Apple TV, followed by one episode weekly through Wednesday, June 10.
