Cardi B turned up the heat this weekend, and celebrated her Dominican roots, with a fiery performance on Saturday Night Live.

After taking the stage for the show’s Jan. 31 episode, the rapper began by performing her new single “Bodega Baddie.”

As her band played Latin beats, she rapped, shimmied, and welcomed legendary Dominican accordionist El Prodigio — who is famous for his merengue típico style of music popular in the Dominican Republic.

Cardi, who was born Belcalis Almánzar in New York City, continued the celebration of her Dominican heritage by wearing an off-the-shoulder red, white and blue folkloric dress. She completed the look with red heels and a flower in her hair. Her dancers donned red folkloric dresses paired with matching heels.

For her second song, Cardi belted out “ErrTime,” while dressed in a figure-hugging Black bodysuit with fringe and leather detailing.

Both songs are from her second studio album, “Am I The Drama?”, which was released in September 2025 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

After leaving the stage, Cardi showed her appreciation for the opportunity to appear on SNL, in a video posted to her Instagram page. With El Prodigio and her band by her side, she smiled and blew kisses to the camera.

“I’m sooooooo happy,” the rapper captioned the post. “It’s such a honor for me to perform on one of the most prestigious stages in America…SNL with THEE @elprodigiord! Bringing real Dominican sound, real Dominican culture, infused with the sounds and culture of the Bronx! Y’all don’t understand I’m sooo happy!”

In addition to performing as musical guest, Cardi appeared in a sketch titled “Immigrant Dad Talk Show” alongside SNL comic Marcello Hernández.

Succession and Murderbot actor Alexander Skarsgård hosted the episode of SNL.

Cardi B’s appearance on the NBC sketch comedy series came less than two weeks before she kicks off her “Little Miss Drama Tour” on Feb. 11 at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, California.
