Paris Jackson has spoken out about the importance of sobriety after revealing she has a perforated septum — a hole in her nose — because of past drug use.
Michael Jackson’s daughter recently shared on social media that drugs “ruined” her life.
Jackson, 27, said she had never publicly addressed having a perforated septum, even though it can be noticeable.
“I have a really loud whistle when I breathe through my nose,” she explained in a TikTok video posted on Nov. 10. “That is because I have what is called a perforated septum, slightly different from a deviated septum and that is — what you think it’s from.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, a perforated septum is “a hole in the tissue that separates your nostrils.”
The condition can lead to dryness and crusting inside the nose; a nasal obstruction; nosebleeds; runny nose; or a whistling sound when you breathe through your nose.
Among the key causes are excessive use of steroid nasal sprays; inhaling harmful chemicals over an extended period of time; or inhaling cocaine.
In her video, Jackson told her followers, “Don’t do drugs kids.”
The model, singer and actress said she didn’t want to be pushy, but used herself as an example and said drugs “ruined” her life.
She also explained that she was told a perforated septum can be repaired through surgery, but would prefer not to go under the knife because of the medication involved during the recovery phase.
“You have to take pills when you have a surgery that gnarly,” she said, noting that she’s been sober for six years.
In a 2021 interview on Red Table Talk, Jackson discussed her life, mental health, self-harm, the death of her dad in 2009, and coming out as queer to her family.
“My family is very religious, and a lot of, like, homosexuality is just very taboo, so they don’t like to talk about it. It’s not really accepted,” she said. “But I’ve gotten to a point where I respect them and I have love for them. I respect their beliefs. I respect their religion.”
Willow Smith asked her if she thought the situation at home had “affected you in your growing stages.”
“Yeah, but right now, I’m at a point where it’s like, to expect them to put aside their culture and their religion, to me, leads to resentments,” she said.
In 2018, Jackson confirmed that she identifies as bisexual during an Instagram Q & A, as reported by Entertainment Tonight.
“That’s what you guys call it so I guess — but who needs labels,” she shared. “Everyone has known for years. I came out when I was 14.”
