Sean “Diddy” Combs has a new place to call home.
The music mogul has been transferred to FCI Fort Dix, a “low-security” federal correctional institution in Burlington County, New Jersey.
ABC News, which was among the first outlets to report details of the transfer, said Combs was transported to the facility from Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) early Thursday, Oct. 30.

Although at publication time, the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) website still listed his location as the MDC.
Sources told ABC News Combs will be housed in a special drug program unit instead of with the general population.
The Bad Boy Records founder is expected to serve the remainder of his 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix for a conviction on prostitution-related charges. Earlier this week, the prison bureau posted his expected May 8, 2028 release date online.
That could change if he gets a presidential pardon, or if his appeal is successful.
This week Combs’ legal team filed a brief requesting an expedited appeal, arguing that under the normal appeals timetable, he could complete his sentence before his appeal is heard.
“An expedited briefing and argument schedule is critical to ensure that Mr. Combs’s appeal of his sentence does not become moot while the appeal is pending,” defense attorney Alexandra Shapiro wrote in a new filing. Combs is seeking to have his conviction and his sentence overturned.
Those who follow the Diddy saga will recall FCI Fort Dix is the same prison the mogul requested earlier this month.
His legal team filed a memo at the federal courthouse in Manhattan on Oct. 6, requesting he be housed at the facility, as previously reported.
“We respectfully request that the Court strongly recommend a designation facility to the Bureau of Prisons in Mr. Combs’ Judgment,” his attorney Teny Geragos wrote in the memo addressed to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian.
Geragos said Combs would prefer the prison because it has a residential drug abuse program (RDAP), as well as “educational and occupational programs.” It’s also just an hour and a half drive from New York City, so he can “maximize family visitation.”
Judge Subramanian rejected the request. Instead, he said the court would recommend that Combs serve his sentence “as close as possible to the New York metropolitan area,” at any facility that has an “available substance abuse program.”
The decision was ultimately up to the BOP, which granted the rapper and producer’s request.
The BOP website describes FCI Fort Dix as a “low security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum security satellite camp.”
The facility houses a total 4,119 male offenders, including 3,912 inmates at the FCI and 207 at the adjacent camp.
Combs, 55, was convicted on July 2 under the Mann Act for transporting people across state lines for the purpose of prostitution, involving two of his ex-girlfriends. Jurors found him not guilty of more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
On Oct. 3, Judge Subramanian sentenced him to 50 months in federal prison, or 4 years and 2 months. The judge said he would be credited with time served for the 13 months he’s spent at the MDC since he was arrested in September 2024.
The prosecution called the mogul “unrepentant” and suggested he be sentenced to 135 months — or 11 years and 3 months But the defense argued he should get 14 months, essentially time served.
The judge split the difference.
