The Los Angeles Police Department has finally provided an official update on the Celeste Rivas case, revealing the teenager’s body may have been inside singer D4vd’s Tesla for weeks. But for now, there are no suspects.

The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division (RHD) issued a statement  on Monday, Sept. 29, saying the vehicle was “parked at the location from which it was towed for several weeks, so Ms. Rivas Hernandez may have been deceased for several weeks before the discovery of her body.”

The department added that because the medical examiner has not yet determined a cause or manner of death, it’s unclear if a crime occurred “beyond the concealment of her body.”

Still, the department insisted investigators are carefully “examining every aspect of this case to uncover the truth and seek justice for Celeste Rivas Hernandez and her family.”

Rivas’ decomposed body was discovered on Sept. 8, when officers responded to a tow yard in Hollywood after employees noticed a strong odor coming from an impounded Tesla.

The vehicle was registered to pop singer and TikTok sensation D4vd, born David Anthony Burke.

Capt. Scott Williams, who is leading the investigation, told TMZ Monday that the cause of death, which is currently listed as “deferred,” could hold the key to the case.

Williams said investigators are still processing the Tesla for possible evidence, including digital data and video. He added that police are not pursuing a suspect or person of interest at this stage.

However, investigators are looking into a “reported relationship” between D4vd, 20, and Rivas, 14.

On Sept. 17, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the dismembered remains as Rivas, who would have turned 15 on Sept. 7.

Earlier today, her death certificate was released. A copy of the document obtained by ABC News said additional testing is needed before determining how the missing teenager died.

The death certificate said Rivas was not pregnant at the time of her death and had not been pregnant within the last year, a detail that’s been the subject of widespread online speculation.

As the investigation continues, D4vd has distanced himself from the Hollywood Hills property tied to the case.

Last week, the singer’s manager Josh Marshall — who rented the home — broke the $20,000-a-month lease days after detectives served a search warrant on the $4.1 million property.

Rivas was from Lake Elsinore, California, about 60 miles from Los Angeles. She had reportedly run away from home several times and was last seen on April 5, 2024.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office released a missing person’s flyer describing her as 13 years old at the time she disappeared.

D4vd has not spoken publicly about the case. Earlier this month, a representative said in a statement that he is “fully cooperating with the authorities.”
