‘Basketball Wives’ Gets Tense Amid Feuds, Fires and Vegas Fallout

“Fu–ing with me? You’re asking for the wrong problem, sweetie,” Jackie Christie told new cast member Denise Garcia on the latest episode of Basketball Wives.

Jackie made the comment on the episode titled “We’re Done Talking,” while getting an IV drip with Denise, Jennifer Williams, Brandi Maxiell, and Ty Young.

Denise had been silent most of the season. But this week she showed more confidence and suggested the group “address the elephant in the room” — last week’s explosive confrontation in Las Vegas between Jackie, her daughter Chantel Christie Jeffries, and Brittany Renner.

“Do you think that was okay, in the way you acted towards your daughter and Brittany?” an emboldened Denise asked Jackie.

Ty looked over and smiled, like she was waiting for Jackie to go off on Denise. But Jackie kept her cool — at least initially.

“First of all, I didn’t act any way towards my daughter and thank you for bringing that up,” Jackie said calmly. She added that she considered apologizing to Brittany, but changed her mind because Brittany inserted herself into Jackie’s family business.

Chantel Calls Her Mom “Delusional”
Evelyn Lozada met up with Ming Lee, Brittany, and Chantel at a wine bar. They discussed the drama in Vegas before Chantel arrived.

“The whole thing was disgusting,” Evelyn told the group.

“I will never respect her… You violated me. You put your hands in my space. You disrespected my religion and then you threatened me,” Brittany said about Jackie, adding, “I’m a Muslim. I’m in hijab, you don’t talk about my hijab.”

She then called Jackie “godless” and a “b–h,” for asking if she was hiding drinks under her hijab.

Chantel walked in and called her mom “delusional.” She said she’s ready to wash her hands of Jackie.

“I don’t want you around me, I don’t want you around my children,” Chantel said.

Denise Confronts Jackie
The show cut back to the IV drip bar and Denise was mouthing off, again.

She told Jackie the situation in Vegas was “f–ked up.” Denise asked Jackie if she’d talked to Chantel. As soon as Jackie told her “no,” Denise said she “heard” Chantel had blocked her.

Jennifer and Ty both looked over at Denise, like — Girl. Please. Stop.

Jackie sounded surprised, then asked the ladies to stay out of her family’s business.

In a confessional interview, Jennifer said Denise should “take it down a couple of notches.”

Jackie turned to Denise and said: “Stay out of my face!”

LA Fires Break Out
Evelyn invited Brandi to shop for healing crystals for the victims of the deadly Los Angeles fires that broke out in January. (Full disclosure: I live in L.A. and don’t know anyone affected by the fires who said they needed or wanted crystals).

Brandi told Evelyn she’d never seen anything like the wind-driven fires burning in the Pacific Palisades, Altadena, Hollywood Hills and other areas.

“It felt like it was Armageddon,” Brandi said.

Evelyn said she loves California, but between the fires and earthquakes, it’s a lot. The two bonded over the tragedy.

But the tranquility in the crystal shop took a turn when Brandi brought up Vegas, and said Evelyn put her in a “sticky situation” with Shaunie Henderson.

Evelyn told Brandi she sometimes has a “stank” attitude. Evelyn also said she dresses inappropriately, which is what Shaunie was trying to tell Brandi — that she was going to a wedding with her “ass out.”

The two started arguing in the crystal shop. Brandi reminded Evelyn that she organized the Vegas trip to celebrate Evelyn’s birthday and wanted her to have a nice time.

“I’m really trying to find a f–k to give, but I can’t find it,” Evelyn shot back.

Brandi told Evelyn she has a terrible attitude. Bothered by the negative energy, the lady working in the shop started burning sage.

“Not you burning sage, child,” Brandi said as she walked out.

“Do you have any stones for delusional?” Brandi asked the lady.

“We might,” she responded.

Brandi Leaves LA
With the situation in Los Angeles deteriorating, Brandi called her husband and said things were bad.

“The evacuation orders, I’m constantly getting [emergency] alerts. I mean, I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little scared,” she said. He told her to pack up her things and return to Texas.

Donation Drama
Evelyn signed the ladies up to volunteer at a donation center for fire victims in Altadena, which has a large historically Black community.

Brittany, Jackie, Ty, and Denise all took part in the event. Chantel stayed away to avoid her mom, but helped pack items to be donated. Ming wasn’t able to attend because of a family obligation.

Over at the donation center, the tension was thick between Jackie, Brittany and Denise.

“Jackie walking up and pretending everything is fine, is typical behavior of a toxic mother,” Brittany said in a confessional interview.

Organizers assigned the women to hand out diapers, baby wipes, clothes, and essentials to people who lost everything in the fires.

“This is good what you did!” Jackie told Evelyn.

Brittany and Denise met a woman who said the only thing left of her house was the frame and the chimney.

Jackie told Ty it felt good to give back. But she said Brittany was ignoring her, Denise was giving off “bad vibes,” and Evelyn was like “Dr. Jekyll,” so she wanted to leave. Ty laughed and said she understood.

The women sat down for lunch. Brittany, Evelyn, and Denise started mocking Jackie. Ty was the only one who defended her.

“Now the ladies are making Jackie out to be the villain, but it’s crazy because Jackie showed up,” Ty said. “She didn’t have to come to support. She came, y’all gave her weird energy. Y’all are not really talking to her, so how are you mad that she left? I probably would have left too.”

With that, the episode ended. Basketball Wives airs Monday nights on VH1.
