The Lox to Bring Live Set to Tribeca Film Fest for New Documentary

A new documentary on hip-hop trio The Lox will make its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June, followed by a live performance from the Money, Power & Respect hitmakers.

The film titled Trinity: The Story of the LOX looks back at how the group, made up of Sheek Louch, Styles P, and Jadakiss, went from Yonkers, New York to the global stage.

The name of the documentary is inspired by the trio’s album, The Trinity, which served as their first release in over a decade, and featured guest appearances by Tyler Woods and Dyce Payne.

The film is directed by Bill Horace. Producers include Yaneley Arty, Kristi Clifford, Laurence Mathieu-Léger, Peter Scalettar. Tickets to the various screenings of the doc are available on the Tribeca website.

Other music documentaries making their world premiere at the festival will focus on Earth, Wind & Fire and Alicia Keys.

Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial VS That’s the Weight of the World) is set to open the festival at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on June 3.

The HBO documentary “examines the band’s lasting legacy, cultural influence, and body of work, with rare access to archival materials and a focus on the vision of founder Maurice White,” according to the official description.

The project comes from musician and Oscar-winning documentarian Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, who will perform with The Roots and Earth, Wind & Fire after the opening night screening.

Alicia Keys: Girl From Hell’s Kitchen will close the festival. After the screening, Keys will make an appearance at the event. In the film, the New York City native looks back on her childhood growing up in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood and the journey to becoming a global superstar.

Directed by One9 and produced by Brian Satz and Cole Cook, the film is described  as a “tribute to a life of music, dreams, and the city that breaks them and makes them.”

The 25th annual Tribeca Film Festival runs from June 3 to June 14 in New York. More details on the films can be found at tribecafilm.com.
