The 16th Annual BET Hip Hop Awards brought the stars to Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center this weekend.
Among the familiar faces walking the red carpet were rappers Remy Ma; Fat Joe; Nelly; Tyler, the Creator; and Latto. While the show was taped on Friday, Oct. 1, it airs Oct. 5.

Inside the venue, rapper, entrepreneur and philanthropist Nelly picked up the 2021 “I Am Hip Hop” trophy for his contributions to hip hop culture.
LL Cool J presented the first-ever “Rock The Bells Cultural Influence Award” to Grammy-winning rapper, producer, entrepreneur and nominee Tyler, The Creator.
Trina, Jermaine Dupri, Remy Ma, and Tank, all served as presenters. Performers included Young Thug, Gunna, Bia, Lil Jon, Baby Keem, and Isaiah Rashad. Rap legend Big Daddy Kane also led a special tribute to Biz Markie, who passed away in July.
Previously announced nominees include Cardi B, Lil Durk, and Megan Thee Stallion, with nine nods each. They’re followed by Drake with eight nominations. Metro Boomin and Tyler, The Creator picked up four nods each. For a full list of the nominations, click here.
Each year the awards pay homage to hip hop music and highlight some of the best work in the industry.
This year 85 South (comedians Karlous Miller, DC Young Fly, and Chico Bean) return as co-hosts.
The BET Hip Hop Awards premiere Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 9:00 PM ET/PT on BET, and simulcast internationally on BET Africa on Wednesday, October 6 AT 3 AM CAT.
