Back in December 2024, Peacock announced the drama series had been renewed for a fourth and final season.
Executive producer Morgan Cooper was the one who jump started the series. Cooper directed a four-minute trailer that featured a reimagining of the 1990s Will Smith sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
After sharing the video on social media, it went viral and caught Smith’s attention. They teamed up to bring the series to audiences.
Only instead of a comedy, Bel-Air takes a dramatic and raw approach to Will’s journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the glitz of Bel-Air, and puts a modern spin on the story.
Peacock says Cooper will direct the final two episodes of the series.
The first season of the drama premiered on Feb. 13, 2022.
The series has featured notable guests, including original Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cast members Tatyana Ali, Joseph Marcell, Vernee Watson-Johnson, and Daphne Maxwell Reid.
Others appearing on the show have included WWE Superstar Bianca Belair, rapper Saweetie, R&B singer and actress Andra Day, and comedians Marlon Wayans and Bill Bellamy.
Will Smith serves as executive producer, along with showrunner and writer Carla Banks Waddles. Additional executive producers are Morgan Stevenson Cooper, Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Benny Medina, Andy and Susan Borowitz.
The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group and Westbrook Studios, a division of Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s media company Westbrook Inc.
Bel-Air season 4 will consist of eight one-hour episodes. The new season premieres Monday, Nov. 24, 2025 on Peacock.
