Oprah Winfrey issued a statement late Tuesday night denying what she described as “awful” and “fake” allegations that prompted her name to trend on Twitter.
“Just got a phone call that my name is trending. And being trolled for some awful FAKE thing. It’s NOT TRUE. Haven’t been raided, or arrested. Just sanitizing and self distancing with the rest of the world. Stay safe everybody,” Winfrey tweeted.

Her post came in response to reports spreading across Twitter alleging that the Hollywood mogul had been arrested for sex trafficking and child pornography. The allegations spread so quickly that Winfrey became the number one trending topic on the platform.
Still, Winfrey’s post didn’t silence conspiracy theorists who responded to the tweet with thousands of replies ridiculing the talk show titan.
