R. Kelly Accuser Claims Singer Routinely Locked Her Up

A woman who is suing R. Kelly for allegedly infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease, and not disclosing it, has detailed her allegations on national television.

Faith Rodgers, 20, sat down for an interview with CBS This Morning that aired on Tuesday.

Rodgers — who filed a lawsuit against Kelly on Monday in New York — accused the singer-songwriter of “sexual battery.”

She said they met last year in San Antonio at a party after one of the “Bump N Grind” performer’s concerts.

“He was like, ‘Here is my number. Take it. Text me a picture of you so I know it’s you with your name,” Rodgers told CBS News correspondent Jericka Duncan.

Rodgers said she was 19 years old when she met the superstar singer.

After two months of talking, texting, and FaceTime calls, she said Kelly flew her to New York to attend one of his shows, and put her up in a hotel.

The morning after the concert, Rodgers claimed the singer came to her room and demanded she take off her clothes. She said she initially refused, but ultimately gave in to his request for sex. She went on to allege that Kelly recorded their encounter on his iPad without her consent.

“I was just waiting for it to be over,” she said in the interview.

Rodgers claimed that she had a year-long relationship with Kelly in hopes that he would help her launch a career in the entertainment industry. During that time, she alleges Kelly told her to call him “daddy” and would lock her up for hours at a time.

In addition to her lawsuit, Rodgers said she filed a criminal complaint with the Dallas Police Department in April.

In her lawsuit, Rodgers claimed Kelly “mentally, sexually and verbally” abused her. She also alleged he “willfully, deliberately, and maliciously” infected her with herpes.

Representatives for Kelly told CBS the singer had no comment on Rodgers’ allegations or on the lawsuit.

Last month, the Time’s Up organization announced it was joining the online #MuteRKelly campaign against the singer-songwriter and his music following a string of sexual abuse allegations.

In a statement, Kelly called the efforts to silence him an “attempted public lynching of a Black man.”
