The “Star Trek Day” event in September will include a special tribute to the late Nichelle Nichols.

Paramount+, home to the full Star Trek catalog, made the announcement Thursday saying the celebration will include a video tribute honoring the late actress’ impact and influence.

Nichols broke barriers as one of the first African-American women with a lead role on a television series when she was cast as Lt. Nyota Uhura on the original Star Trek series in the 1960s and later in the film franchise. She died on July 31 at age 89.
