Michael showed off more smooth moves this weekend, as it neared $800 million at the global box office.
Domestically, the Michael Jackson biopic earned a projected $20 million between Friday and Sunday, Comscore reported. That brought its five-week total through Sunday to $314.2 million.
Outside the U.S. and Canada, the drama has collected $468.1 million, boosting its global haul to $782.3 million. The film should reach $800 million globally in the next few days.
After returning to number one last weekend, Michael slipped to third place on the chart this Memorial Day weekend.

Disney’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu opened at No. 1 domestically with an estimated $81.9 million three-day total. The film played in 4,300 locations for a per theater average of $19,060, per Comscore.
While those were impressive numbers, Variety reported the film charted the worst opening for Star Wars since Disney bought the George Lucas franchise in 2012.
In this latest installment, the evil Empire has fallen, and the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for — with help from legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his apprentice Grogu.
Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, and filmmaker Martin Scorsese also star in the sci-fi saga from director Jon Favreau.

The horror film Obsession came in second place after earning another $22.4 million in its second weekend of release. As mentioned, Michael was third.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 strutted into fourth place in its fourth weekend with a $12.6 million 3-day total. That brought the film’s domestic tally through Sunday to $196.1 million.
The Sheep Detectives was fifth, with $8.9 million in its third weekend of release. Hugh Jackman leads the cast of the whodunnit.
Two newcomers failed to make the Top 5 on this holiday weekend.
Paramount’s R-rated horror film Passenger debuted in sixth place with $8.7 million from 2,534 locations over the 3-day frame. The film stars Jacob Scipio, Lou Llobell, and Oscar winner Melissa Leo. It cost a reported $15 million to produce.
The news was worse for the star-studded I Love Boosters. It opened in eighth place with $3.7 million from 1,750 locations between Friday and Sunday, for a per theater average of $2,127. The heist comedy cost a reported $20 million to produce.
Written and directed by Boots Riley, the Neon release follows a crew of professional shoplifters who target a cutthroat fashion maven. The cast includes Keke Palmer, Demi Moore, Naomi Ackie, Will Poulter, Taylour Paige, LaKeith Stanfield, Poppy Liu, and Eliza Gonzalez.
I Love Boosters premiered in March at the 2026 SXSW festival to stellar reviews from critics. It currently has a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
